Important Information for those with a loved one in mental health crisis |

If a friend or loved one has been taken to the jail and is suffering from a mental illness or a medical condition you may call (727) 453-7117 to make the medical staff aware of their diagnosis & medications they are taking. If someone you know is having a mental health crisis, who without immediate intervention may face arrest or hospitalization you should take one of the following steps: 1. Call 911 and specifically ask for a C.I.T. (crisis intervention trained) officer 2. Call the PEMHS (Personal Enrichment Through Mental Health Services) hotline at (727) 791-3131 If they have become involved in the criminal justice system or just need a referral for mental health services call Thomas Alexander (727) 545-6477 ext.# 438 If they are currently incarcerated in the Pinellas County Jail call Paul Needles at (727) 464-7206 Seeking support or treatment for yourself or a family member? Call the NAMI-Pinellas Helpline (727) 791-3434. With In the event of a psychiatric emergency call the Crisis Hotline (727) 791-3131 If police assistance is required call 911 and request a crisis intervention trained officer To advise the jail medical staff that a defendant is suffering from a mental disorder or physical condition as well as the medications prescribed call (727) 453-7117.
